Ingredients

3 cups flour

1 1/2 cups shortening

1 tsp salt

1 egg

1 tsp white vinegar

5 tbsp cold water

Preparation

cream flour, shortening, and salt into a coarse meal. mix egg, vinegar, and water in a separate bowl. add to meal mixture. knead into a pliable dough and roll out into a sheet approximately 1/8-1/4 inch thick. * drape into a pie plate and shape the edges as desired. **

*for rolling out you can either roll onto a piece of wax paper, or use a silicon baker’s mat. **this dough never gets tough and can be reworked over and over again. if you rip it or want to add pieces on the edge to sculpt the crust, it sticks to itself easily.
