Ingredients

5 ounces dry red wine

1 cup sugar

2 lbs cranberries

Peel and juice from 1/2 lemon

Peel and juice from 1/2 orange

Cheesecloth bag containing:

1/2 cinnamon stick

2 bay leaves

15 peppercorns

3 star anise

10 juniper berries

Preparation

In a saucepan bring wine and sugar to boil over moderate heat, stirring until sugar disolves. Add remaining ingredients including cheesecloth bag. Bring back to boil stirring and remove from heat. Let cool and chill, covered for up to 6 months.
