Ingredients

4 c all purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp of salt

1/4 c superfine sugar

2 c buttermilk

Preparation

Preheat oven to 425. Grease a 9 inch round cake pan of a 9 by 5 loaf pan. Soft flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt together into a large bowl. Stir in sugar. Make a well in center add the buttermilk and with a fork work the milk into the flour until a soft dough is formed. Turn into the prepared pan and bake for 10 min. Reduce the heat to 400 and bake until the bread is golden brown and firm to the touch, about 45 min. Let cool slightly before slicing.
