¾ c sugar

2.5 cups vin santo (Italian Sweet/dessert wine)

1 egg white, beaten

MY MODIFIED RECIPE

¾ c sugar

1 bottle dessert wine (1.5 cups)

1 cup blackberry puree (frozen blackberries, defrosted in microwave to make 1 cup of berries/juice, and then blend in blender)

NO EGG

Preparation

Combine the sugar and 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat until sugar has dissolved. Stir in the wine (and berry puree if using) and remove from the heat. Cool. Pour the mixture into an electric ice cream maker. If using egg, when part way done, add the beaten egg white. Note: I did not use egg white and I did use the berry puree and it was delicious. I haven’t made it according to the original directions.
