Ingredients

I Tbs butter

2 cups half-and-half/light cream/milk 1 cup sugar

3 eggs, lightly beaten

1 tsp vanilla

8 slices white bread/ french bread

Bourbon Sauce

1/2 cup butter

1 1/4 cup sugar

1/3 cup water

1 egg yolk, slightly beaten

3-4 Tbs Bourbon

Preparation

Spread melted butter in baking dish. In large mixing bowl combine half-and-half, sugar eggs and vanilla. Tear bread into pieces.(should be about 4 cups). Add bread to half-and-half mixture, stir to combine. Pour into prepared baking dish. Cover and chill overnight. Bake, uncovered at 350F (180C) 30-35 min. Cool about 30 min before serving.

Melt butter. Stir in sugar, water and egg yolk; whisk over medium heat until mixture just comes to boil. Cool 15 min. Stir in bourbon.
